Revenge
02:31
|
|||
I've got a dagger in my pocket, you've got a bullet for my head. I guess revenge is what you'd call it. I guess you'd rather see me dead. I've lived in a hundred places and I've burned every single one, and I've got a thousand faces so I can always show a different one.
Cruel revenge is stalking me everywhere I go - hiding out in a hollow tree, or down a rabbit hole. I know I'm gonna have to pay for all the things that I've done. I've got a heart that's made of marble and a blackened tongue.
I wanna die behind the wheel on a busy interstate. I want the traffic to block three lanes, I wanna make everybody late. Revenge is the sweetest fruit that you're ever gonna taste. Give my regards to all the others that I never had to face.

Stupid Boy
03:29
|
|||
The kids are all right but I feel rotten
My head is filling up with cotton
And I'm making mistakes like I do so often
Lately
The bud is drooping on the vine
How did I ever make you mine?
Now the kids are mad at me, it happens all the time
Lately.
And I'm a stupid boy
A stupid boy
I'm a stupid boy today
I'm smoking the filter, I deserve it
I'm telling a story, but you already heard it.
I wrote a song for you, but it was badly worded
And clichéd
The sky is cracking and peeling
I misunderstand everything I'm feeling
I stared for hours at the ceiling
Yesterday
And I'm a stupid boy
A stupid boy
I'm a stupid boy today
I'm standing on the outside looking in
Why can't I let you win?
Can't remember where we left off
So I don't know how to start again
I'm a stupid boy
I'm a stupid boy today

Some Kind of Payback
05:09
|
|||
I knelt down beside him and put both my hands on his back. He looked kind of peaceful, but I could see blood on the tarmac. No-one was sure what had happened, but it looked like some kind of payback.
I thought of that time when the cops brought their dogs out to even the score for all that our protest had gotten away with the day before. It was late November, 2001. You could almost hear them roar.
There was blood on the tarmac. It was some kind of payback. There was blood on the tarmac, but I guess I already said that.
He lifted his head up and it was like someone had turned on a tap from a vein in his forehead. I'd never seen anyone bleed like that. We gave him some napkins and told him that he was hurt really bad.
There was blood on the tarmac - looked like some kind of payback. There was blood on the tarmac. I'm sorry, I already told you that.
So we waited there for the ambulance and the police to show, but the thought of the cops scared him more than his wound - he kept trying to go. He asked us to help him get up on his feet, and we really didn't know what we should do.
There was blood on the tarmac. It was some kind of payback. There was blood on the tarmac, and I don't know why I keep on saying that...

One of These Days
02:40
|
|||
You must think I really care about you
To go and pull a stunt like that
And you must think I'm really dangerous to you
To try and pull the wool like that
But one of these days...
We'll all be forgotten
You see the future and it terrifies you
Much more than anything I said
You hope the things you do will immortalize you
You're a legend in your head
But one of these days...
We'll all be forgotten
One of these days...
We'll all be forgotten

The Lake
04:46
|
|||
I walked out into the lake
And realized I'd made a big mistake
Our time together was at an end
And I finally understood that we could never be friends
Everything seemed beautiful back then
But now I see I must have been mistaken
Every now and then I think about you
And all the terrible things that you made me do
But I left all my anger back up there on the sand
And decided that I'd never return to the land
Everything seemed beautiful back then
But now I see I must have been mistaken
Everything seemed so real back then
But I finally see that it was always me who was faking

War
04:48
|
|||
If you had a nickel for every time you made her cry, you'd probably have a few dollars by now. And if you had a bullet for every time you made her mad, you could have stormed the White House by yourself by now. You'd demand to see the president to make him account for his crimes, and put a hole in the breast of a suit for every one of his lies.
But don't take your girlfriend to war, my friend. Don't take your girlfriend to war.
If we weren't so frightened of what might come out of our mouths, we'd probably have a few words to say to each other right now. And if we got disillusioned from giving up so much ground, we could read to each other from the pamphlets we found lying around. You go striding up to the barricades with a bandanna clutched tight to your face. You get tear gas and dogs for your efforts to make the world a better place.
But don't take your girlfriend to war, my friend. Don't take your girlfriend to war.
